The Surrey Hills

The Stephan Langton Inn has been serving fine ales and good local food at Friday Street in the Surrey Hills for over a century and we believe it’s an important tradition to continue.
Nestled in the hamlet of Friday Street, the Inn sits in the beautiful Surrey Hills AONB – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering some of South East England’s most stunning and accessible countryside.

Great Walks

The Stephan Langton Inn is the perfect spot to take a break from a walk through the woodland (with or without your dog!), or for a rehydration stop with a pint of local ale during a cycle ride through the hills.

Regularly featured in Surrey’s popular walks and cycle rides as well as the national press, the Langton Inn is the perfect places to start or end your walk or ride. Take in Broadmoor, Coldharbour, Leith Hill, Abinger, Holmbury St. Mary and Wotton on your trip – we are very dog and horse friendly and promise to always have a treat for our four-legged guests and somewhere for you to leave your boots or park your bike.

friday-street-1You could always leave your car in the Friday Street car park around the corner, explore the ancient woodland nearby before enjoying a spot of lunch at the Langton. There are dozens of cycle tracks and bridleways to enjoy if you’re more at home on two wheels or four legs.

We’re happy to advise you of fine places to see on your walks. Why not search for the waterfall at Broadmoor which inspired ‘Falls Gold’ – CAMRA’s Champion Ale, London & South East 2014 from Shere’s Tillingbourne Brewery and has been the spot for many a marriage proposal. Or follow the Tillingbourne stream on its way to join the River Wey at Guildford, after a lunch stop at the Langton of course.

Dogs welcome!

friday-street-dogsAlready nominated for ‘Dog-friendly Pub of the Year’ by our regulars, we welcome walkers, riders, cyclists and dogs at all times of the day and night (in the snug & bar areas), opening hours permitting. We can guarantee a bowl of fresh water and special snacks for your dog, a welcoming fire when it’s chilly and a very warm welcome from staff.
